Megabox Coex is the largest movie theater in Korea. Our task was to create a new signage system that is practical and aligns with the theater's concept. The overarching theme of the theater was that of a factory, a multi-functional platform with minimally decorated theaters. Our approach was to design a new functional signage system with an intentionally unadorned look. We opted for a mono-type typeface to evoke a robotic and modern feel. Information was thoughtfully displayed using larger-sized type and a new way-finding arrow system. All the signage was meticulously hand-painted on wall spaces and poles. We made a conscious decision not to incorporate hanging way-finding signs that would disrupt the interior design or the space's ambiance.
